At Easter 2014 the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds was replaced with the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. The General Synod of the Church of England voted on July 8th 2013 to close the diocese of Ripon and Leeds along with the Diocese of Bradford and the Diocese of Wakefield. On that same appointed day there was a new birth as the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales came into being! This was not an amalgamation nor a take-over but an entirely new entity with entirely new boundaries and an entirely new way of doing things which is still being worked out. The new diocese is split into five archdeaconries and each of these now has an area bishop. Our parishes will be part of a large rural area focussed on Ripon. The Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines,is the diocesan bishop. In July 2016 the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales was renamed as the Diocese of Leeds. Our parish is in the Ripon 'Episcopal Area', Bishop Anna Eltringham is our bishop:
