The small Dales town of Pateley Bridge is the main centre of Upper Nidderdale and hosts the last of the traditional agricultural shows of the year, the ‘Nidderdale Show.’ The town is also the start and finish point of the Nidderdale Way, a 53 mile circular route that loops around the stunning scenery of the Nidd Valley. There are many interesting places to visit in the town and some excellent tea rooms too.

St Cuthbert’s church is an early nineteenth century building which was built to replace the old church of St Mary’s which fell into disrepair and whose ruins can still be seen on the hillside. The first service at St Cuthbert’s was held in 1827. There are many things of interest in our beautiful church, most notably the rich vibrant stained glass East Window (depicting the magi visiting the infant Jesus) and Harrison and Harrison organ.

This beautiful church holds a varied diet of services including a weekly Eucharist (celebration of Holy Communion (Common Worship), sharing the bread and wine in remembrance of Christ) which is accompanied beautifully by our splendid organist and choir.

Every Wednesday morning we celebrate Holy Communion (according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer).

There are several groups that people can get involved with at St Cuthbert’s, bell ringing, choir and flower arranging to name some of them.

Whilst visiting St Cuthbert’s why not visit the ruins of the 14th century church of St Mary’s which are up a steep hill at the top of the High Street (Old Church Lane).

Services:

10:30 Every Sunday Parish Eucharist (First Sundays are a little less formal*)
except on 5th Sundays when the service may be held at one of the other churches in the Parish.

Families are welcome to and do attend all of our Sunday Eucharist Services. *The first Sundays of the month usually has a different liturgy (book with how the service is conducted), includes an alternative sermon (usually in the form of a drama sketch). I'm not sure that this makes it any more suitable for all ages than the other Sunday Services, it's just slightly different and very well attended.

10:00am   Mid- Week Communion Every Wednesday
